Oilers Fall To Panthers 3 1 In Game 2 Of Stanley Cup Final

Oilers fall to Panthers 3-1 in Game 2 of Stanley Cup Final

Bobrovsky shines for Panthers

Oilers now down 0-2 in series heading to Edmonton

The Florida Panthers took a commanding 2-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Sergei Bobrovsky was sensational in goal for the Panthers, stopping 40 of 41 shots.

Mattias Ekholm gave the Oilers an early lead, but Niko Mikkola and Aaron Ekblad scored for the Panthers in the second period to give them a 2-1 lead. Ekblad's goal came into an empty net with just over a minute remaining.

The Oilers had a chance to tie the game in the third period, but they could not convert on a five-on-three power play. The Panthers then iced the game with an empty-net goal by Ekblad.

The Oilers now trail 0-2 in the series and will need to win Game 3 in Edmonton on Monday night to avoid falling into a 3-0 hole.

Conclusion

The Panthers have been the better team through the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final. Bobrovsky has been outstanding in goal, and the Panthers have been able to generate more scoring chances than the Oilers.

The Oilers will need to find a way to generate more offense and get more pucks past Bobrovsky if they want to get back into the series.
